The Premier League Champions are riding high as of now, with a roster that could still well be the top in the EPL. However, in a league where the top teams are constantly improving, (See: Arsenal’s coming moves) the Citizens are in need of some moves during this transfer window. Having already acquired Porto’s Fernando, City would do well to bolster the roster. Here are five players who Pellegrini and the brass should look into:
1. Eliaquim Mangala
The Porto central defender has been on the radar for quite some time, and many believed that a deal would be done in the winter window. Clearly, it was not, and now seems like the perfect time. Though City allowed the least amount of goals in the league this past season, Martin Demichelis is 33 years old and would be best served in a reserve role.
While the France man wasn’t featured much for his national team this World Cup, his success in Portugal at third place Porto certainly merits a high price, especially considering his young age of 23. His athletic ability, technically sound defending and strong heading ability plus 6″2 height makes Mangala an ideal central back. Also boasting a performance score of 214 from Squawka, his class is undeniable. And when looking at the current roster for a good partner for Vincent Kompany, the fit seems quite perfect as well.
