Five Players Barcelona Should Sign Now

With the exit of both Victor Valdes and Carles Puyol, there has been a lot of talk about who Barcelona will bring into the squad for the upcoming season. Last season, Barcelona finished second in the league, just above their third place arch rivals Real Madrid. Barcelona has recently signed Chilean keeper Claudio Bravo, the obvious replacement for Valdes and Pinto, but the transfer season is still open. Here are five players Barcelona should attempt to sign before the transfer window closes:

1. Daniel Agger

Agger has been at Liverpool for six years now and could benefit from a move to FC Barcelona. Whether he will be a good match, that is yet to be seen. However, Agger did help Liverpool rack up a couple of titles in his six year stay, some of which include the FA Cup 2006, Community Shield 2006 and the League Cup in 2012. Agger was a consistent starter for matches, but this past 2013-2014 season he only appeared in 20 matches, starting in only 16 of them. He was bumped back because of the arrivals of both Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure.

Liverpool had a decent season and were recognized for their attacking skills, but they ultimately fell out of the running for the league title due to their few instances of dreadful defense. The Mascherano and Pique pair have done well, but Puyol’s retirement leaves room for one more defender. Agger can learn a lot from the more experienced Barcelona players and who wouldn’t want Barcelona Defender on their resume?
