According to The Daily Mail, Manchester United are set to bid 55 million pounds for Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw from Southampton. It is being reported that Shaw is valued at 30 million pounds and Lallana at 25 million pounds.

Reports are suggesting that talks between Manchester United and Shaw are in advanced stages and that United are confident they can seal the deal with him. Shaw is still only 18 years of age and would be a short term and long term replacement for Evra who is set to leave the club this summer.

Lallana has had a fantastic season this year for the Saints and has earned himself serious recognition for England and is a real possibility to go to Brazil. Lallana has shown that he can score goals from the midfield position as well as create for others, something that United desperately need at the moment.

United are hoping to sign both of these players before the World Cup begins in June. Last year, United went after the likes of Fabregas, Bale, Ronaldo, but instead had to make a desperation signing, that being Maroune Fellaini.

United have also been interested and monitoring Cesc Fabregas’ situation at Barcelona and also Edinson Cavani from PSG. Fabregas has been booed in recent games at home and looks to be unsettled at the club where he began his youth career. Cavani may have to be sold as PSG does not want to violate the Financial Fair Play regulations.

This rumor is coming from The Daily Mail, so it is very reliable and thus gets an 8.

Anybody who says United need to sign only one or two quality players is foolish. United need to sign about six quality players to revamp the squad and have it contend once again.

Lallana and Shaw would be good signings for United. Shaw can go right into the left back position and can bring solid defense duties as well as the ability to get forward in attack. Lallana is a midfielder who can play in a variety of positions, something that United can use. He can play centrally as well as play in a wider position, although he wants to cut inside and is not a wide player.

These two players from Southampton are young but have quality. If these transfers happened I would give them an 8 as far as helping the club. For me, Shaw is the more needed of the two, as he is only 18 and can ultimately become the best left back in the world very soon. Lallana is a good player but United should be able to sign more proven midfielders.
