According to The Metro, Liverpool are set to make an 8 million pound bid for Mateo Kovacic. Kovacic plays in Serie A for Inter Milan and is a highly rated youngster.

Kovacic’s agent has revealed that he is unhappy with his playing time for Inter Milan after a fall out with his manager. Kovacic is one of the most promising young midfielders in all of Europe at the age of 19.

Kovacic is Croatian, set to make the World Cup squad, and Liverpool are hoping to sign him before the World Cup begins in June. Brendan Rodgers is a manager who loves possession style soccer and Kovacic is a fantastic passer.

The rumor is coming from The Metro, which is not highly rated, thus the rumour strength only gets a 3 out of 10.

Kovacic is known for his exquisite passing, something that would fit in beautifully with Liverpool’s style of play. He can play in a deeper role but is more of an attacking midfielder.

Liverpool have an array of midfielders but seem interested in more this summer. I think Kovacic would fit in nicely with Liverpool, but he would have to play higher up the field. He is only 19 years of age, but Rodgers has shown he is not afraid to give youngsters playing time in big matches.

I give this potential transfer an 8 as far as helping Liverpool. He would bring creativity and the ability to pick out a pass in the final third. He could slot in place of Coutinho and link up well with Suarez and Sturridge.

Kovacic does seem unsettled at Inter Milan and looks destined to move in the summer. Other clubs are surely in for Kovacic but Liverpool might just be able to sign him. I give this transfer a 50 percent chance of happening only because I do not see exactly where he would play on the field.
