Pumas UNAM will host Rayados at Estadio Olimpico Universitario on Sunday March 23 at 11:00am PST for week 12 of the Liga MX.
Pumas, close to the playoffs
Pumas has currently 18 points and is standing as third in the run for the Liguilla. It has been a good week for Pumas after defeating Atlante last week at home by a 5-0 score. That result has lift the teams’s spirit.
On the downside, Martin Bravo came out with an injury that will keep him away from the field for about three weeks, also, Marco Palacios is still in doubt to play on Sunday. Trejo will have to bring Dante and Sosa on the front and might want to adjust the team strategy line to play with a 5-3-1-1. Overall, Pumas seem like the stronger team in this match.
Monterrey, one of their worst seasons
Rayados are not in one of their best seasons and after letting go of Jose Guadalupe Cruz, whom did not have good numbers, the team just sank into a bad chain of results. Carlos Barra, who currently coaches the team, has not had good luck and has amounted to three losses in his three games as coach.
Suazo, Hiram Mier, Leobardo Lopez and Darvin Chavez are key players that will not be playing due to injuries, this is something that is reflected in the results for Monterrey, standing in 17th with only 9 points. Rayados will go to against Pumas whom they had not defeated at Estadio Olimpico since 2005.
Prediction: Pumas and Rayados come without their best strikers, Bravo and Suazo, this gives opportunity to other to show the power in their offensive lines. Pumas is favorite to win and will get the three points at home with a score of 2-1.
TV Info: The match will be televised on Univision.
