Liverpool will visit Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday. Brendan Rodgers has no reason to approach this game with any trepidation at all. Liverpool have swept aside most of what has been put before them recently, and they go into this game as heavy favourites.
Both Sahko and Lucas come back into the squad, but it would be a surprise to see either start. With Gerrard blossoming in his new role and Henderson finally showing signs of the ability many always suspected he had, Liverpool have been able to use Sterling, Coutinho and the two most dangerous strikers in the Premier League without fear of being left short defensively.
Liverpool fans will be demanding that Liverpool take the game to United who must be regarded by most as being there for the taking. Usually an amount of caution would be exercised upon a visit to Old Trafford, but with a serious challenge for the Premier League having been mounted, Liverpool must be eyeing victory, and potentially a convincing one.
One still wonders exactly how happy Suarez is at being used as the second striker, or coming from the left. He undoubtedly has a great partnership with Sturridge, but both players are at their best when playing as the furthest player forward. This hasn’t really impacted so far, and with the versatility of the front four players, things can be swapped around should anything not be working.
The only question mark over any serious title credentials must be the strength in depth of the squad in terms of the forward thinking players. Rodgers will be desperate to keep all of his key men fit for the run-in.
