Report: Chelsea Lining Up A Shock Move For Manchester United’s RVP

The Mirror is reporting that Robin Van Persie is being targeted by Chelsea as well as Juventus and big spenders Monaco. Van Persie’s future is in doubt after he showed his frustration about the Olympiakos defeat.

Manchester United are very much considering offloading the 30 year old Dutchman, as Moyes attempts to rebuild the squad. Man United did just resign Wayne Rooney, so the future of Van Persie is unclear at the present time.

Chelsea have emerged as front runners for the Dutchman. Chelsea’s one area of need all season has been a striker, but they did not address it. Van Persie may be the man for Chelsea, because he is a proven goal scorer in the English Premier League.

Chelsea were looking to get Radamel Falcao, but that looks unlikely, as he just moved to Monaco and his value is higher than that of Van Persie. Chelsea are very much in for Van Persie, but it is being reported that so too are Serie A leaders Juventus and Monaco.

If Van Persie was brought to Stamford Bridge, he would bring a proven track record and goals for a Chelsea side that have lacked goals from their strikers. Van Persie would get the service and delivery from Chelsea’s array of midfielders.

Coming from The Mirror, this rumor seems to have some truth, but I would give it a rumour strength of 5 out of 10. Would Manchester United sell one of its best players to a rival, like Chelsea did with Juan Mata?

No doubt Van Persie would be welcomed to Chelsea, because he would bring goals. A majority of the goals for Chelsea have been scored by midfielders this season, but having a proven goal scorer up top would add even more to the attack. Van Persie to Chelsea gets a 9 out of 10 as far as helping Chelsea.

Looking at this transfer rumor, I am very skeptical that United would sell Van Persie to Chelsea. Van Persie leaving United is more than likely to happen this summer, but it may be to a team like Juventus or Monaco, as opposed to a Premier League side like Chelsea. I think this move to Chelsea is very unlikely, but stranger things have happened. I would give the chances of this happening around a 10% chance.
