The Honduras vs Venezuela international friendly will be held this Wednesday, March 5, 2014 (5:30 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano. The game to take place in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, is expected to be sold-out at its 50,000 seat capacity. Most importantly, this friendly will be the “farewell” for Honduras from their home fans prior to the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
The team coached by Luis Fernando Suarez will have a very intense and important match when they receive Venezuela at their home stadium. This Wednesday is the only FIFA Match Day before the World Cup, therefore, Honduras will use all of their available European based players. In total, eleven players from European leagues were named to this match, thus, this game will be crucial for coach Suarez to see how the team functions with them.
Apart from this match, Honduras will play another three international friendlies in the United States in the months and weeks before the start of the World Cup. The Venezuela national team is still going through a reconstruction phase after Cesar Farias left the coaching position to join Xolos of Tijuana. They still do not have a head coach, although this game will be important to them to give new players an opportunity with the national team.
