The Argentina vs Romania friendly match will be played this Wednesday, March 5, 2014 (11:00 AM Pacific) at  the National Stadium in Bucharest. This will be a good preparation match before the World cup in Brazil for the Argentine squad, while Romania will look forward to see how they compare to a team that is considered a title candidate for the upcoming World Cup.

Argentine coach Sabella called up mostly domestic players, so he could evaluate their performance and choose the best for the trip to Brazil, but again, Juventus attacker Tevez won’t feature.

Sabella was vastly criticized because of his confrontation with Tevez, but the coach stayed by his decision, and it remains unclear whether or not Tevez will go to Brazil. The Juventus attacker said that the decision is solely Sabella’s, and that he doesn’t want to comment on that topic any further.
There is a question mark under Erik Lamela’s featuring in the squad also, since he has had a dreadful season in Tottenham. Additionally, the ex-Roma journeyman is injured, so that complicates his situation even further.

For this match, Sabella called up his biggest star, Lionel Messi, and he will probably team up with Gonzalo Higuain and Sergio Aguero in attack. Inter’s Rodrigo Palacio will probably feature from the bench. Even though Tevez’ form is fine right now, and he is clearly a higher profile striker than Higuain or Palacio, Sabella thinks that his game doesn’t fit to Argentina’s playing style.

On the other hand, Romania’s team is mostly built around domestic players, but some players that play abroad feature too. The biggest stars are Vlad Chiriches, who plays for Tottenham, and Ciprian Marica, Getafe player. Even though Romania doesn’t have some star studded squad, they play a very physical and tough game at home, so it won’t be easy for the Argentine to break their will in this game.

Argentina vs Romania Prediction

It is expected that Argentina will have the ball possession much more often than the Romanian squad, and considering that fact, have many chances for goals. Romania will surely focus on defense and try to score by playing counter attacks. Considering all the facts, the Argentina vs Romania match will end with Argentina winning by 2 goals to 0.
