Rumor has it that Tottenham is lining up a swap deal that would involve Mario Balotelli coming back to the EPL, this time to White Hart Lane (Source: Metro). Tottenham are in need of improving the strike force and Balotelli may do the trick.
Tottenham is looking to swap Erik Lamela, the highly talented Argentine winger. Lamela was purchased this past summer for 30 million pounds from AS Roma in Serie A. Lamela has found it quite difficult to get in the Tottenham side for any sort of matches. He is currently sidelined with a back injury, which is not helping his cause either.
Balotelli, who currently plays for AC Milan, is a talented striker who can do it all. The problem for Balotelli is that it seems no manager has been able to get the very best of him on a consistent basis. There are matches where he looks unstoppable but then he can look lost and uninterested.
There is no doubt about it, Balotelli is one of the most gifted footballers on the planet and if he can find consistency, he can be listed among the best. Balotelli has shown signs that he is maturing as a player since he left The Etihad. Balotelli would definitely improve Tottenham’s striker situation, but it remains to be seen if he would leave the San Siro.
AC Milan are way behind a Champions League qualification place and it may come down to whether or not Tottenham can catch Liverpool for that all important fourth spot. Balotelli is a heck of a talent and deserves to play in the Champions League.
Spurs director of football, Franco Baldini, has been reportedly in his homeland of Italy to try and attempt to make this swap deal happen for this upcoming summer. Even with Balotelli’s antics in recent years, he is still a hot commodity and it will be quite fascinating to see how this all ends up as we near closer to July, when that window reopens.
