Current Premier League holders Manchester United are said to be eyeing Sporting Lisbon duo William Carvalho and Marcos Rojo. According to Sportsmail, the Red Devils were monitoring the two young stars with the focus of attention being midfielder William Carvalho.

The 21-year old Portuguese player who was born in Luanda, Angola, was booked during the 1-0 win over Olhanense. Most notably, is that the Lisbon midfielder is signed to agent Jorge Mendes, whose clients include Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United’s Luis Nani, David De Gea and on loan Anderson.

With Captain Nemanja Vidic set to leave in the summer and Rio Ferdinand’s future at Old Trafford still in doubt, United’s scouts were also monitoring defender Marcos Rojo. The 23-year old, who plays at left-back for South American giants Argentina, is said to be good on the ball and adds some fancy little bit of play despite his defensive role.

The attack minded wing-back was the subject of a failed bid by Fulham in the January transfer window. This is not the first time United are scouting Sporting Lisbon players, as both Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Nani were signed from the Portuguese outfit by the Manchester club.

Although Evra’s future is still uncertain, the Frenchman may opt to stay at Manchester United and play second fiddle to a new left-back should United sign one in the summer.
