The Leon vs UNAM Pumas Liga MX match will take place this Saturday, February 8, 2014 (6:00 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Nou Camp. The ‘Panzas Verdes’ will host Pumas in one of the most attractive matches of Week 6 in the Clausura 2014.
Leon: Slow start for the champion
Leon has not had a great start this season; after getting the league championship last year the team has only obtained one win, two draws and two losses. With 5 points ‘La Fiera’ is sitting in 14th place of the regular standings; 3 points away from a playoff seed.
Gustavo Matosas has the whole team at his disposal, plus has the advantage of playing at home in order to change the bad stride of results that has not allowed them to win the last three games. Pumas: To keep the momentum
Although the felines lost mid-week against Merida in the Copa MX, it was noticeable that it was a team made up of mostly youth and reserves. However; Jose Luis Trejo did not place a tactic that seemed enough to at least get the draw, loosing 1-0 which did not seem like a mayor dent and hopefully for Pumas it does not affect their performance in the Liga MX.
Pumas will seek to obtain the win at the Nou Camp for the first time since 2002; which in part is due to Leon being relegated to the Ascenso MX for 10 years, and loosing 1 match after they came back to the Liga MX. The task at hand is not easy but so far the numbers for Pumas are not all bad. Still confronting the champion at home will be quite a challenge.
Leon vs UNAM Pumas Prediction
Pumas seems to be in better condition and their match at the Copa MX did not alter the first team. Leon will try to use the talents of Carlos Peña and Luis Montes to obtain the three points and their second win of the season. Pumas will obviously use the same scheme they had against Xolos to try to repeat and get the three points. The Leon vs UNAM Pumas match will end in a 2-1 win for the ‘panzas verdes’.
