The Real Madrid vs Chelsea match will be held Wednesday August 7, 2013 (6 PM Pacific) at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami. This match is the final of the International Champions Cup and will have some great story lines despite it still being considered a friendly. The game held in Miami will be filled with emotion as Jose Mourinho faces his former club Real Madrid for the first time since his departure.

Jose Mourinho comes into the game after some ‘controversial’ comments in which he speaks about his days when he coached the ‘real’ Ronaldo (the Brazilian); not Cristiano. I believe this statement was taken out of context but nonetheless the media has hyped up these comments and it will certainly add fuel to this match. Mourinho will enter with a young and talented Chelsea club in hopes of defeating Real Madrid. He will use his defensive tactics and his knowledge of the tendencies of Real Madrid players to try and win this final.  David Luiz will have to anchor the Chelsea defense against a potent Real Madrid attack. Fernando Torres will look to find his form once again and nothing would boost his morale more than to score against a tough Real Madrid squad.

Real Madrid enters this match looking to stay in form as the Spanish season approaches. Whether Mourinho’s comments were taken out of context or not, Cristiano Ronaldo will be fired up regardless. I will look for him to attack with confidence and with the great play-making ability that Ozil possesses you know that Chelsea will have their hands full. Mourinho will not be the only coach facing his former team, Carlo Ancelotti also had a stint with Chelsea from 2009-2011 so he too knows the style of a few of the players left at the club. This will certainly make it a must see match up.

Real Madrid vs Chelsea Prediction

These are two of the premiere clubs in the world of soccer and it will surely be an interesting match. We have two of the top coaches playing one of their former teams in what promises to be a chess match between these two. We will also experience some of the top talent in the world with players like Ronaldo, Benzema, Ozil, Ramos, Luiz, Mata, Oscar among others. In the end I believe it will be the more talented Spanish side that wins this friendly title. I expect the Real Madrid vs Chelsea match to end 3-1 in favor of Real Madrid.
