Toluca were up 1-0 at half time and looked as though they would win the game against Nacional easily, as they had dominated the match so far. However, Nacional reacted in the second half and scored two early goals to take a 2-1 lead. Toluca pulled one back and tied 2-2, only to once again be surpassed by Nacional 3-2. The home loss for Toluca is devastating, as they were unable to add to the historic victory at Boca Juniors.
