The Mexico vs Denmark 2013 friendly will take place on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 7 PM Eastern at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona, USA. This friendly is not taking place on a FIFA match day, thus, both teams will be missing players that play in the major European leagues. Will El Tri start off the year with a win?
Mexico will not have any of its European-based players, no Chicharito, no Guardado, and certainly no Vela. However, there will be the surprise additions of Cirilo Saucedo and Fernando Arce, Xolos players who have been rewarded for their fine play with the defending Liga MX champions. So, what’s the importance of this match?
It’s that Chepo de la Torre will get to see several players before he makes his selection for the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers beginning in February. Furthermore, it is very likely we will see Cirilo Saucedo at goal, don’t expect to see him there during the qualifiers (Corona, and Ochoa are clearly ahead of him in the roster).
On the other side, we have Denmark with a roster also composed of mostly Danish league players and even some U-21 national team players. No major players based in the important European leagues were called up for this game. Nonetheless, this team still has some power, Denmark just defeated Canada 4-0 in a friendly this past weekend.
The Mexico vs Denmark match is just a preparation game for both squads, simply a way for both head coaches to take a better look at players who they wouldn’t call up for official matches. It should still (hopefully) be an entertaining match for the fans.
Mexico vs Denmark Prediction
The Mexico vs Denmark match will be an interesting contest. Even though winning the game does not matter, you can expect the individual players try to play their best in an effort to impress the head coach. The end result will be a feisty match, with poor teamwork, that results in a 2-1 for Mexico.
