Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente signed their last player prior to the Apertura 2012 of the new Liga MX. After the premature exit of Argentine striker Pepe Sand to Racing of Argentina, and that of Egidio Arevalo to Palermo, Club Tijuana had an available foreign player spot in their roster. Coach Antonio Mohamed had mentioned that Arevalo’s exit was a very hard spot to restore but affirmed that a player in the same position would be signed. On Wednesday, Xolos confirmed that 30 year old Cristian Pellerano from Independiente would be the player to fill the gap Arevalo left.
Cristian Pellerano is a veteran player who played for Mohamed in Independiente’s championship squad who won the Copa Sudamericana 2010. Pellerano has a long trajectory in the Argentinian first division by playing for Atlanta, Belgrano, Racing, Arsenal de Sarandi, and Colon. He is a strong player with a good pass and a good long distance shot that will strenghten the void left by Arevalo.
With Pellerano’s siging, Xolos is now ready to face the Liga MX as their five allowed foreign player spaces have been filled (Duvier Riascos, Fidel Martinez, Javier Gandolfi, Pablo Aguilar).
