This Saturday, March 3, 2018 (7:06 PM Pacific) Chivas de Guadalajara will host Club America at the Estadio Akron for a game in the 10th round of matches in the Liga MX Clausura 2018. Both teams are living very distinct moments from one another but in a high stakes matchup like the Super Clasico that gets thrown out of the window.

Chivas of Guadalajara was the most disappointing team in the Apertura 2017 and has stayed consistent with that this season. Los Rojiblancos are currently in 17th place with just seven points and will likely miss the playoffs for a second consecutive tournament. The squad is very similar to the one that won the Clausura 2017 tournament but the defense and players like Orbelin Pineda have not been anywhere near close to their best level.

Rodolfo Pizarro and Alan Pulido have actually been decent this season but have not done enough to carry the team. Matias Almeyda seems close to leaving the institution as there are a plethora of teams that could be interested in his services. Everything is crumbling down for Los Tapatios and it is safe to say that an unlikely win in this match would save their season.

Club America is currently undefeated in first place with 17 points and is aspiring to fight for the title. However, Las Aguilas are currently in a bad run of form in Liga MX as the Mexico City team has not won in its last two matches. The most recent result for Club America was a scoreless draw against Club Tijuana at the Estadio Azteca in a game where the team really struggled to capitalize on their opportunities. Los Azulcremas are the favorites going into the match with their current overall form this season but will not have an easy match.

One huge advantage for Miguel Herrera is his bench as it has players like Andres Ibarguen and Henry Martin that can completely change the game. The game will be the must-watch game in North America this weekend and in the world of football in general even with the current parity between the two teams.

Chivas vs America Prediction

Both teams have tied their last two games but the difference between Chivas and Club America this season is very clear. The saving grace for Los Rojiblancos is the home-field advantage but it may not be enough to get past this Club America side, which may be the best in the Liga MX. FutnSoccer predicts a 2-1 win for Las Aguilas in what should be a very hard-fought and intense encounter.
