Liverpool boss Klopp reportedly looking for plan B as Salah deal stalls

Liverpool continues its search for a pacey attacking player to partner with Mane on the wings. Several reports had speculated Mohammed Salah, a former Chelsea man, was ready to make his way back to the Premier League but this time for the Reds.

Earlier, after agreement on personal terms, a deal had stalled as Roma pitched Salah at £42m whereas Liverpool bid £28m for him. Liverpool have not followed up with an improved bid and look to be finding alternatives, The Mirror reports.

Several players have been linked with potential moves to Liverpool, the likes of  Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Douglas Costa, and Julias Brandt, all finding themselves populating that list but Liverpool are surprising most by searching elsewhere.

Liverpool is looking towards Sporting Lisbon’s 22-year-old Gelson Martins, the Portuguese national has been scouted several times in the past year by Liverpool and has a release clause worth £52m which will further be reduced to £43.5m as Sporting failed to qualify for the Champions League.

He scored seven goals and provided 14 assists in his breakthrough season, gaining attention especially with a fantastic performance in the Bernabeu against Real Madrid.

He seems to complete Liverpool’s requirements with pace, quality and his prime years still ahead of him. Although, Liverpool will still look to Salah as their main target and hope to lock down an agreement with Roma for the Egyptian national before making a move for anyone else.
