This Thursday, June 8, 2017 (5:00 PM Pacific) The United States will host Trinidad & Tobago at the DSG Park in Commerce City, Colorado for a match in the fifth round of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers. The match should be an intense one between two teams that need the three points from the game to advance to the 2018 World Cup.
The USA is struggling massively in the hexagonal stage of the competition, currently in fourth place with four points. The Americans did defeat Trinidad & Tobago by a massive 4-0 scoreline the last time the two teams faced each other. The home side should be able to do the same in this encounter with a rigid side built on a strong core of MLS players. Apart from the MLS players, there are also talented American players who play in Europe like Christian Pulisic of Borussia Dortmund and some Liga MX players like Club Tijuana’s, Paul Arriola. The USA should easily win this game and move a step forward to qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.
Trinidad & Tobago still has a slim chance at qualifying for the 2018 World Cup but would need a fantastic result from this match. The Caribbean side is currently in last place with three points but is only two points out of a direct qualification spot. The Islanders are only one point behind the USA in fourth place and even a draw may prove to be a favorable result from the encounter. Most of the squad for T & T does play domestically but some of the standouts like the captain, Kenwyne Jones do play in the MLS. There is even a player who militates in Mexico in forward, Shahdon Winchester who plays for Ascenso MX side, Murcielagos. The encounter should be a game that the USA do win but should still prove to be an entertaining duel.
