Tepatitlan forward Julio Cesar Cruz Gonzalez has been suspended for 11 matches after pushing referee Lizzet Garcia Olvera, the heaviest sanction in the FMF’s latest disciplinary report.
The Comision Disciplinaria published its Jornada 14 disciplinary report for the Liga BBVA Expansion MX on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Its headline resolution is the 11-match suspension of the Tepatitlan FC player.
How the 11 Matches Stack Up
The ban is three sanctions added together, all from the same match. Cruz receives one match for a second yellow card, under Causal 11.
He receives three more matches for offensive, insulting or humiliating language or behavior, under Causal 8.
The largest part is seven matches for violent conduct, under Causal 6. The report also lists a separate dissent caution for Cruz from the same game.
What Happened Against Cancun FC
The sanctions come from Tepatitlan’s match against Cancun FC on Friday, October 23, 2026. After his sending off, Cruz confronted referee Lizzet Amairany Garcia Olvera and pushed her, the incident that brought the violent conduct charge.
The FMF report records the sanctions by causal and does not narrate the incident itself. Coverage of the match reported the push, and Mediotiempo published the same 1+3+7 breakdown as the official report.
An 11-match suspension ends Cruz’s Apertura 2026 and runs into the next tournament. Suspensions of this size are rare in Mexican soccer and are reserved for the most serious conduct toward match officials.
A Brutal Week for Tepatitlan
The sanction lands in the middle of the worst week in the club’s recent history. On the same Friday as the Cancun FC match, the FMF opened a betting integrity investigation into unnamed Tepatitlan players, who remain barred while that procedure runs.
A third front is still open. The investigation announced on October 18 into a possible improper lineup by the club has not produced a ruling either.
Tepatitlan now face the rest of the season without their forward, with two federation procedures unresolved and a third just closed with an 11-match ban.
