Luis Romo trained fully with the Chivas de Guadalajara squad on Tuesday and is in condition to face Atlante on Saturday, ESPN reporter Diego Yvey said on Futbol Picante.
The final decision rests with Gabriel Milito and his staff. The club has not confirmed the return, and the official Atlante squad list is still to come.
Romo has missed the last three league matches. He was still in the final phase of his recovery when Chivas de Guadalajara faced Tigres UANL, Necaxa and Monterrey.
Milito had already pointed to this week. After the win at Monterrey, the coach said he hoped to have Romo back for the Atlante match.
What Romo’s Return Would Mean for Chivas de Guadalajara
Omar Govea returned at Monterrey and impressed, easing the load on Ruben Gonzalez and Leonel Calderon in midfield.
Romo would give Milito another senior option in the middle. Chivas de Guadalajara sit third in the table and host Atlante at Estadio Akron on Saturday.
The Rest of the Chivas de Guadalajara Treatment Room
In the same report, Brian Gutierrez and Jose Castillo are still awaiting the medical thumbs up. They are the next most likely returns, ahead of Miguel Gomez.
Angel Sepulveda remains in rehabilitation. His return looks complicated for Atlante.
The Yvey report also contradicts an Estadio Deportes claim earlier this week that Romo would not be back before the Liguilla.
Kickoff against Atlante is Saturday at 7:07 p.m. CT. U.S. viewers can follow every match on the Chivas de Guadalajara hub and find viewing details in the Chivas de Guadalajara viewing guide.
