Liverpool’s new recruit, Fabinho, is hoping to help the club win the Premier League this season.

The 24-year-old arrived at Anfield with an impressive resume, after having helped French side Monaco defy the odds by winning the Ligue 1 and reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League during the 2016-17 season.

Liverpool are expected to challenge for Premier League honors this season, along with Manchester City, following their impressive summer transfer window during which they brought in the likes of Fabinho, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson.

The Reds had a good pre-season during which they managed to record victories over arch-rivals Manchester United and Manchester City during the International Champions Cup. In addition to this, Jurgen Klopp’s side also started their Premier League campaign by thrashing West Ham 4-0 on Sunday.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring for the Reds, while Sadio Mane added a brace before Daniel Sturridge rounded off the scoring during the 88th minute.

What was particularly impressive about the rest is that West Ham are a strong side on paper and many do expect Manuel Pellegrini’s side to challenge for a place on the top half of the standings this season.

Fabinho may not have played during the game, but surely, if the Reds continue from where they left off last season, they can launch a credible challenge for the Premier League title.

Fabinho told Sky Sports: “When the opportunity came about to join Liverpool, I spoke to the coach and that gave me the certainty that it was the right decision which has been confirmed by being here,”

“I’d been at Monaco for many years, and I believe it was time for a change. I wanted to move to a massive club with ambition that are fighting for titles. It was between the English league and the Spanish league.

“This is a massive club, and if this is not the best league in the world, it’s one of the two biggest championships in the world.

“We are looking very strong. The preparations have been great and looking at all the elements, not just the first team, we have a great squad. We will be fighting for the title.”
