Has 20-year-old star played his last game for Celtic after transfer collapsed?

As per reports, Leicester City wanted Manchester City forward Patrick Roberts as part of a £95million deal that would have seen Riyad Mahrez move to the Etihad Stadium on transfer deadline day.

The 20-year-old winger, currently on his 2nd loan stint with Celtic, picked up an hamstring injury late last year, and is yet to return to action having been initially ruled out of action for 3 months.

Manchester City would have had to recall Roberts from Celtic to facilitate Mahrez’s switch were they keen on the player plus cash deal, and the Scottish giants wouldn’t have been able to prevent him from leaving.

The English winger isn’t close to returning to action, and it’s believed it could take another month or 2 before he gets the medical clearance so as to prevent a reoccurrence of the injury.

City currently value Roberts at £15million, and it remains to be seen if Celtic are able to meet the price should they wish to sign him permanently.

Since landing Chris Sutton for £6 million in the summer of 2000, the Scottish giants are yet to sign any player that costs close to their record transfer fees.

City will be hoping to finally cash in on Roberts in the summer, and Leicester City seem to have identified a replacement in him once Mahrez leaves.
