According to reports, Napoli dropped their interest in Everton midfielder Davy Klaassen after being reminded that the Dutchman would not be eligible to feature in the Europa League this season.
Klaassen joined the Toffees during the summer and big things were expected from him following an impressive season last term during which he helped the Dutch club reach the final of the Europa League.
Klaassen has however been largely disappointing so far this season and he was one of two players who Sam Allardyce looked to get off his wage bill this month, along with Sandro Ramirez who has since joined Sevilla on loan.
Napoli emerged as the favourites to sign Klaassen during recent days but it now appears that they eventually pulled out of the running to sign him.
Image rights were a major concern as Klaassen is not eligible to play in the Europa League having already represented Everton in the competition.
