Out-of-favour and wantaway Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has dropped a hint concerning his Saint James’ Park exit being on the cards ahead of Wednesday’s transfer deadline.
The 23-year-old is surplus to requirements at Tyneside having made all his 6 league appearances off the bench this term, and a handful of clubs have been linked with registering an interest in his services.
Amongst them is Mitrovic’s former club Anderlecht – where he bagged 36 goals in 69 games before completing a £16million switch to Newcastle in July 2015.
The Serbian international is open to returning to the Jupiler Pro League with Anderlecht, and recently revealed to Anderlecht Online ”Hopefully very soon back in Astridpark.”
Newcastle want to recoup a major part of the transfer fee they spent on Mitrovic, but the Belgian outfit and every other suitor only want an initial loan deal.
His wages are also an issue, but the striker could be willing to make a huge sacrifice as he seeks regular playing ahead of the summer World Cup.
A return to Anderlecht will guarantee that, and a move could indeed be in the pipeline.
