According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic are yet to return with another offer for Dundee centre-back Jack Hendry after seeing their £500,000 bid knocked back.
Rangers have also shown interest in the 22-year-old, and have been handed a boost as a result of the Hoops’ reluctance.
Dundee boss Neil McCann claims Celtic’s bid was way too low to be accepted, and it’s believed they are holding out for £1.5million.
The Scotland youth international is also attracting suitors down south, with Newcastle United, Bournemouth, West Ham and Crystal Palace all linked with interests.
McCann revealed: “There is clear interest in Jack, I can’t sit here and lie saying there’s not. Celtic are interested, clearly, but it is more than one club.
“I would like to keep him, whether I expect to do it is another thing. But I expect to keep Jack if the bids are not substantial.
“I feel we are just starting something here and long gone are the days when the club is just going to accept poor offers for exceptional talents.
“I will be driving that, I will make sure that if players are going to leave then it will be for good sums so we can rebuild the side.”
Rangers could still bring in more signings despite already making 5 additions to the squad, and with Bruno Alves linked with a late exit, the Light Blues can revive interest in Hendry.
The youngster has been one of the best defenders in the league this term, and the Ibrox outfit will get one over bitter rivals Celtic by pipping them to his signature.
