Celtic reportedly scout long-term striking target over the weekend

Celtic vs Hearts

According to Sport Witness, Celtic sent scouts to watch last weekend’s Portuguese topflight game between Porto and Tondela.

The Hoops are preparing for life without the wantaway Moussa Dembele, and are on the lookout for possible striking options across the continent.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has kept tabs on Porto striker Moussa Marega since he was on a loan spell at Vitoria Guimaraes last season, and he appears to be scouting Celtic’s long-term target all over again.

Marega grabbed the only goal of the day at the weekend, taking his tally to 15 league goals in 17 appearances this term.

The Mali international bagged 13 goals in 25 league games last term at Vitoria, and Celtic could be keen on a swoop.

A January move won’t be possible with Porto looking to pip Sporting, who they currently lead with a point having played a game more, to the league title.

The 26-year-old plays across the forwardline, and has already proven himself as a consistent and lethal finisher. Marega would be a perfect replacement for Dembele, but he is bound to prove too expensive for Celtic.
