According to reports, Southampton have pulled out of the race to sign Daniel Sturridge from Liverpool after the Merseyside giants slapped a £50 million price tag on the player.
Sturridge has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield this season with manager JurgenKlopp opting to utilize Roberto Firmino over him.
The 28-year-old is desperate for a move away from Anfield given that his chances of winning selection for the England squad that will participate at the 2018 world cup are fading.
Sturridge is a proven scorer at the highest level and played a crucial role for the Liverpool side that nearly won the Premier League during the 2013/14 season and as a result, there are a number of clubs across Europe that are interested in signing him, including Inter Milan and Sevilla.
Liverpool meanwhile are keen to recoup some of the £75 million that they forked out to sign Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton, hence the £50 million price tag.
