Celtic’ defender Erik Sviatchenko has officially returned to his former club Midtjylland on a season-long loan according to BBC.

Since the January transfer window started, there have been reports regarding Sviatchenko’ departure and now, the story has finally received its epilog. The 26-year-old will play in Danish Superliga by the end of the season.

The Denmark international struggled to fight his place in starting eleven, and Brendan Rodgers gave him the permission to leave the club in January.

Now, Celtic’ manager Brendan Rodgerswill have to find a suitable replacement, as the Hoops are going to face Zenit St Petersburg in Europa League knockout stage, and they are yet to secure the title in the domestic championship.

After Sviatchenko, Jozo Simunovic is another defender expected to leave Celtic Park soon, which will open up space for a new centre-back.

Dedryck Boyata, Mikael Lustig, and newly arrived Marvin Comper are currently at Rodgers’ disposal, but we should expect reinforcement in the defensive area by the end of the transfer window.
