The Independent claims that Liverpool have entered the race for the signing of highly-rated Stevenage defender Ben Wilmot, who has also been chased by Tottenham and Southampton.
The same source announces that the player is very close to complete his transfer to White Hart Lane, but clubs are yet to find the agreement. Stevenage officials have put an £850,000 price tag on their young prospect.
It is well known that Jurgen Klopp is searching for quality defenders to boost his shaky backline, and after Virgil Van Dijk, there might be more signings in that area.
The 18-year-old centre-back is an investment for the future, but considering recent performances from Ragnar Klavan, Joel Matip, and Dejan Lovern, it is not excluded that the prosperous teenager could already challenge for the first-team.
However, the Reds will have to beat a fierce competition from Mauricio Pochettino who identified the young Wilmot as a perfect replacement for Toby Alderweireld, who is yet to extend his contract with Spurs.
