Celtic manager Rodgers reveals he was left hospitalized due to this

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has spoken out about how he was left hospitalized following his sacking as manager of Liverpool in 2015.

Rodgers was appointed as manager of the Reds in 2012 and almost led the Merseysiders to their first League title during the 2013/14 season as they went on to finish the season just two points behind Manchester City.

That was however the best thing that Rodgers managed to achieve during his tenure at Anfield as the club struggled to perform under him following the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona during the summer of 2014.

Liverpool would go on to finish sixth the following season and Rodgers was sacked following a 1-1 draw with Everton in October 2015. Rodgers has since said that he had to go to hospital after he was relieved of his duties as Liverpool boss.

“I went to Spain for a week,” said Rodgers. “Then I came back, and flew to Dubai. Within a couple of days in Dubai, I was rushed into hospital.

“I went through all the tests. It was felt that I was having some issues internally, but then they got into the process of what had happened with work, with my life.

“They pieced it all together, and it was simply a case of my body being so tense, so tight, from all that had happened in finishing my time at Liverpool.

“It reminded me of the pressures you experience, and the expectations you carry, as a manager. Especially at the bigger clubs.

“It reinforced for me that it was time to find a calmness, to re-energise and make sure I was genuinely ready for the next challenge.”
