Liverpool reportedly place 30-year-old attacker as top January target

Anfield

Liverpool have reportedly placed Atalanta forward Alejandro Gomez on their January transfer window wish list. Liverpool are looking at signing the player after they sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona last week.

Coutinho completed a £142 million move to the Camp Nou and as he was a very influential player within the Reds first team, Jurgen Klopp’s side now have a big hole to fill.

The Argentina international Gomez scored 16 goals in the Serie A last season while he has managed just four goals from 18 matches thus far this season.

At almost 30 years of age, Gomez has plenty of experience at the highest level under his belt and was a key part of Atalanta last season as they went on to finish an impressive fourth in the Serie A.

He could be a good player for Liverpool to sign to play for the short-term until the end of the season but is perhaps not a player that the Merseyside club would want on a long-term basis.
