Newcastle reportedly planning audacious loan move for 27-year-old Ligue 1 winner

As per The Daily Mail, Newcastle United want to bring PSG goalkeeper Kevin Trapp to Saint James’ Park on loan till the end of the campaign.

The Germany international has found himself firmly behind first-choice Alphonse Areola this term, playing just 2 league games and none in the Champions League.

To increase his chances of going to the World Cup, Trapp will most likely leave Parc des Princes for regular playing time this month, and the Magpies, alongside Liverpool, are aiming to land him.

Having seen West Ham knock back his bid for Joe Hart, manager Rafa Benitez has shifted attention to the 27-year-old who played a huge role as PSG won the Ligue 1 title in 2015–16.

Trapp without a doubt is an upgrade on Newcastle’s goalkeeping trio of Karl Darlow, Rob Elliot and Freddie Woodman, and although the possibilities of landing him appear slim, it would be a huge bargain to get a deal over the line.

The Magpies are looking to retain their Premier League status at the end of the season, and quality loan additions like the German’s would go a long way keeping the dream alive.
