Newcastle reportedly want to complete the signing of 7-goals-7-assists Spain international this month

As per The Telegraph, Newcastle United are keen on securing the services of Las Palmas winger Jonathan Viera this month having tried to no avail during the summer transfer window.

The La Liga outfit could cash in on the £18million-rated 28-year-old, and alongside Burnley, the Toons have registered interest.

Viera has been impressive since helping Las Palmas to the Spanish topflight, scoring 7 goals and assists 7 others as the minnows finished in 11th place last term.

That form saw him become a full Spain international and he has weighed in 2 goals and 3 assists this term.

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez reckons his side needs more goals, more opportunities and more chances in the final third if relegation is to be escaped, and Viera looks like a signing capable of adding much-needed verve to his attack.

There are plans to sell most of the fringe players in order to raise funds for transfers this month, so the Magpies do have a chance of landing their man.

Viera is top quality for Newcastle level, and his ability to thread a pass to the forwards with defence-splitting through balls could come handy in the club’s search for goals.
