As per ESPN, Watford striker Troy Deeney has emerged as Newcastle’s top target for the ongoing transfer window as manager Rafa Benitez looks to add more goals to his side.
Struggling Magpies have managed to score just 20 goals this term, and the Spanish boss reckons he could land a proven goalscorer in the Hornets skipper.
Deeney, 29, has scored at least 10 league goals in each of his last six seasons at Watford, with 23 coming in the last 2 seasons the club have spent in the topflight.
Under manager Marco Silva, though, the English striker has found himself somewhat surplus to requirements, starting just 7 league games.
Newcastle are offering regular first-team football, and that could tempt Deeney into jumping ship.
He brings enough experience to the table, while his strength and physicality make him capable of being a nuisance to any defence on his day.
With Deeney obviously not a big part of the scheme of things at Vicarage Road going forward, a switch to Saint James’ can’t be ruled out.
