Scotland international and January target is Newcastle’s perfect left-back answer

As per Chronicle Live, Newcastle will attempt to bring Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson to Tyneside in January on loan till the end of the campaign.

The Scotland international, 23, has found playing minutes hard to come by at Anfield, with Alberto Moreno and even James Milner ahead of him in the pecking order.

Toons boss Rafa Benitez wants another left-back next month, and is keeping tabs on the situation of the former Hull City player who he targeted during the summer.

Paul Dummet is yet to return to full fitness since picking up an injury against Tottenham on the opening weekend of the campaign, and Robertson could prove to be the perfect cover and stiff competition Newcastle currently lack.

The former Dundee United star is a top player as they come, and that he attracted Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp in the first place is testament to his quality.

Robertson made the PFA Scotland Team of the Year back in 2014 having emerged as the Young Player of the Year, and has already cut his teeth in English football, playing over 100 league games across the topflight and Championship.

There is hardly a better crosser of the ball than him at Newcastle, while his ball-playing and attacking abilities have seen him feature on the left side of midfield.

Robertson can without a doubt be Newcastle’s perfect answer at left-back, and Benitez must convince his former employers into agreeing a loan deal for his man.
