Newcastle United boss reportedly eyeing a swoop for prolific EPL attacker

Sturridge

According to reports, Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is looking to sign Daniel Sturridge during the January transfer window.

The Magpies have struggled to score goals recently and are currently on a disappointing run of form.

They will know that they will need to rectify the situation as soon as possible or relegation could be a serious possibility this season.

Sturridge has struggled for first team action at the Reds this season with manager JurgenKlopp preferring Roberto Firmino over him and a move would be best for the 28-year-old if he is to still have hope of making the England squad for the 2018 World Cup.

Sturridge is a proven scorer in the English top flight and this could make him an attractive option for the Magpies in January.

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright told BBC Radio 5Live, “I think Newcastle would be the ideal club for Daniel Sturridge. The fans would take to him there.”
