Merson explains how Everton can compete with Liverpool this weekend

Paul Merson has predicted that Everton will “park the bus” during their game against Liverpool this weekend.

After a recent run of good form which has seen them score 12 goals in their last two games, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side will be the favourites to win the game.

Though Everton have been largely poor this season, they have improved considerably recently and have won their past three games in all competitions which means that they could be no pushover for the Reds.

However new Toffees boss Sam Allardyce does have a heavy task ahead of him and Merson believes that his only choice will be to be defensive.

Merson said, “Everton are just going to come and park the bus and get 10 men behind the ball. Then, they will hope they’ll get something from a set piece. It will be tight, but Liverpool are just too good at home.

“Liverpool are scoring goals for fun at the moment, and I know their Achilles heel is their defence, but I just don’t see how Everton get at them. Sam Allardyce will do everything he can to make it a tight match, but that won’t be enough.”
