Sam Allardyce gives his thoughts on Barkley’s future at Everton

New Everton manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that he wants to keep midfielder Ross Barkley at Goodison Park.

Barkley was on the verge of joining Chelsea during the summer transfer window though a deal broke down at the last minute.

His current deal with the Toffees is set to expire at the end of the season which means that if he opts not to sign an extension, the Merseyside club will have to look into selling the player during the January transfer window or else they could risk losing him on a free transfer during the summer.

Nonetheless, Allardyce spoke of his desire to keep Barkley by saying, “I’d like to think we can keep Barkley, unless somebody’s already done a deal for him. I am not daft enough to know in this game that those words and phone calls might not have already gone on.

“If we could get Ross Barkley to stay then nobody would be more delighted than me. Whether that is a possibility I do not know.”
