According to Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic wants a move to Anderlecht in January, and his representatives are working round the clock to make it happen.
The Serbian is clearly not in manager Rafa Benitez’s plans at the moment, as the 23-year-old is not well-suited for his counter attack playing style.
Mitrovic isn’t guaranteed an automatic shirt in his country with the plethora of attacking talents coming through, and regular playing time will be his only chance to make Russia 2018 World Cup.
The Serbian has come off the bench on 5 occasions in the Premier League, with 21 minutes the most he has played in a game.
Newcastle will be bringing in another striker by January, further denting Mitrovic’s already-limited playing chances.
It’s believed a loan deal is more likely, as the former Anderlecht man feels he can still find his rhythm at the Saint James’ Park after a successful stint away.
Whatever decisions both parties agree to can’t be ascertained yet, but it’s highly likely Mitrovic leave Tyneside come January.
