Former Cameroon national team and Arsenal star Lauren Etame-Mayer has said that he believes that Mohamed Salah still has a long way to go to match the feats of Didier Drogba in English football.

“Salah could be the best – he’s still young and he’s playing with such a great team in Liverpool,” Lauren told Omnisport as quoted by African Football

“He could be, why not? We’ve had some great players like [Tony] Yeboah and [Andre] Ayew. Drogba did a lot. To be honest, I have some doubts that he can pass Drogba. He was one of the best African players in the Premier League.

“To pass that is difficult, but we’ll see. Time will tell us, but at the moment I’m sticking with Drogba. I think he’s one of the best African players to have played in the Premier League.”

Since transferring from Roma to Liverpool during the summer, the Egyptian international Salah has proven to be one of the best signings of the summer and has so far managed 10 goals from 13 starts.

Although he struggled during his previous spell in England with Chelsea, Salah has so far been a hit at Liverpool and he will be hoping to break Drogba’s record and establish himself as one of the best African talents to have played football in Europe.
