Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez has called for calm amid concerns that the club could be relegated this season.
The Magpies defeat against Watford during the weekend was their fourth in a row and after making a promising start to the season, their form of late is definitely something that is of concern.
To be fair to Benitez, he did attempt to persuade the club to grant him more funds during the summer transfer window to bolster the side and this wish was not granted.
Mike Ashley has since put the club up for sale following a controversial tenure as owner and this can be viewed as nothing more than an attempt to once again not provide the manager with sufficient capital to make investments.
Benitez called for calm though and said: “I think the fans have been really good all season. But maybe, after this, a lot of them will realise it’s not a question of players or what system we play, it is about sticking together because we will have more problems.
“This is what we have. We have a team of young players and they are working hard. It will be tough, but I still think we are in a good position.
“If my target for the first half of the season is 20 points and we have 14, we have to be sure we use these next six games to get those points and then try to improve in the second half of the season. We have to learn in the Premier League, that if you make one mistake…”
