Steven Gerrard explains the reason why Salah has become world-class

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has said that he believes that the difference in Mohamed Salah’s body shape is the reason why he is better than he was during his Chelsea days.

The Egypt international has been a revelation for Liverpool this season following his £37 million transfer from Roma during the summer.

He is currently atop the Premier League scoring charts with 10 goals from 13 appearances and scored for his side during their 1-1 draw against Chelsea on Saturday.

Salah joined Chelsea in 2014 but was unable to establish himself within the first team and ended up having spells with Fiorentina and Roma in Italy.

Gerrard believes that the 25-year-old has become better due to his different body shape. He said, “He’s got a different body shape.

“He’s got shoulders, he’s more physical. When he was at Chelsea he was a baby in terms of football terms. Now he’s coming into the prime years of his career, he’s got that confidence of doing well at Roma.

“He’s in a good place and he’s come and started really well. That has just continued. I don’t really know him too well but it seems that he does his talking on the pitch.

“I’m not sure if he’s too confident with his English right now but it doesn’t matter. He can forget all the interviews he wants as long as he keeps scoring.”
