As per Serbian news outlet Novosti, FK Partizan are monitoring the situation of Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic ahead of the January transfer window.
The 23-year-old is way down the pecking order at Saint James’ Park, and his former club are looking to have him on a loan deal – with the possibility of an option to buy – until the end of the campaign.
The Serbian is yet to start a league game this term, with all his 4 appearances coming off the bench.
Partizan are only a point away from advancing to the knockout stages of the Europa League, and will need more legs by January.
With more playing time likely to be afforded him at his former club, Mitrovic could be on his way out of Tyneside soon.
Newcastle are also looking to bring in another striker, and that will mean lesser minutes for the former Anderlecht man.
Should Partizan table a good offer, the club might do well to sanction an exit as funds gotten from the deal will come handy during the window.
While Mitrovic remains a quality striker capable of performing if given much-needed playing time, manager Rafa Benitez clearly doesn’t rate him high at the moment, and it’s only right for both parties to part ways.
