Chelsea star blasts his own club regarding this decision

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has blasted his club for their decision to sell Mohamed Salah.

Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma during the summer transfer window and has been arguably the signing of the summer.

The Egyptian international has so far scored 14 goals in all competitions for the Reds this season.

Salah joined Chelsea in 2014 from Basel and left the club initially on loan in 2015 after not receiving sufficient first team opportunities.

Speaking ahead of his sides clash with Liverpool this weekend Cahill spoke about Salah and added that he feels that the club made a wrong decision by selling the 25-year-old.

Cahill said, “He found chances limited here but that’s football. You need time to play, you need confidence.

“Speaking from experience, you’re coming into a quality dressing room and it is a very difficult club to break into, to stay here, maintaining a position season after season.

“The competition is always there. Chelsea buy players so you’re always under threat. The club make the  decisions and that’s that. But players make the decision, too. If they’re not getting enough game time, they look to leave.

“Sometimes it’s difficult if someone wants to play all the time and doesn’t, what do you do in that situation? I saw the ability Salah had because I trained with him a lot.

“Chelsea fans didn’t see him as much as we would have hoped to. He has grown into a very good player. But many other players have been released by Chelsea and haven’t gone on.

“He did it brilliantly and has been  the signing of the summer. Of course, Chelsea will be kicking themselves. But as a Chelsea player, it was difficult for Salah. There was a lot of talent there and you couldn’t pick everybody.

“What makes him so good now? He has great pace and a really good touch. But what I like about him is that he is always trying to hurt teams in the right way. His movement is brilliant.”
