Hamburg midfielder Lewis Holtby is unlikely to move back to the Premier League in the January transfer window, according to Sports 24.
Holtby has been on the radar of Newcastle United for some weeks now, as the Magpies are looking for new players to provide cover in the midfield position.
Considering that Holtby is not a regular with Hamburg at the moment, many had expected the German to move to Newcastle during the upcoming January transfer window.
However, it looks like the move might not go through as Holtby’s agent, Marcus Noack, has revealed that the German is currently not keen on a move away from his current club.
Noack said a recent interview about the transfer rumor, “I am assuming that Lewis will fulfil his contract with Hamburg and there are no signs from the club that he should leave earlier.
“And I am sure that the club will need him over the course of the season to bring his qualities to bear.”
