Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has dismissed links between himself and the Everton managerial post.
Simeone is said to have been one of the men that the Toffees have been targeting as a possible new manager after they sacked Ronald Koeman following their 5-2 Premier League defeat against Arsenal last month.
Simeone has been praised for the work that he has done with Atletico throughout the past few years.
The former Argentina national team footballer Simeone’s current deal with Atletico is set to expire in 2020 and he confirmed ahead of his side’s game against Real Madrid on Saturday that he does not intend to leave.
He said, “As I’ve said on various occasions, my future is tied to Atletico. They are going to have to put up with me for the next couple of years at least. I’m absolutely sure about that.”
It now looks like the Toffees board and fans can discount Simeone as a possible future manager of the club.
