Liverpool man called up for the national team despite few appearances

Liverpool youngster Dominic Solanke has been called up to the England squad that will play a friendly international against Brazil on Tuesday.

The 20 year old was on target for the England under-21 side during their win on Friday against Ukraine before Gareth Southgate announced his inclusion in the Three Lions squad.

Solanke joins the likes of Angus Gunn and Lewis Cook in being called up to the latest squad that has been named by Southgate.

Solanke made a name for himself by playing a key role in helping the England under-20 team win the World Cup earlier on during the year.

He was also named as player of the tournament for the event. His performances were also what likely led to his transfer from Chelsea to Liverpool during the summer.

Southgate appears to be using the friendlies ahead of the World Cup in order to blood young talent before making a decision on the players he will include in is squad for Russia 2018.
