Ex-Celtic footballer Tony Cascarino has continued criticizing his former club, claiming that there success is only due to the fact that Rangers have been weak during recent times.
In only his first season in charge of the Hoops last term, Brendan Rodgers led the team to the domestic treble and they achieved this without having lost a game domestically.
The Scottish giants have continued their good form this season and are on top of the Scottish Premier League standings after taking 30 points from their 12 games thus far. Cascarino was criticized recently for questioning the merit of the Hoops run of 63 games unbeaten.
He has however refused to backtrack and said: “When I played in Scotland Glasgow Rangers had Nigel Spackman, Ally McCoist, Mark Hateley, Gary Stevens and a good few others. Now Celtic can beat Rangers 5-1.
“When both the Old Firm were strong you wouldn’t see a run of 60 games unbeaten because each team would lose a derby after maybe 20 or 25 games.
“Is it a coincidence that Celtic have done this record at a time when Rangers are nowhere near as competitive?
“I played for Ireland and I have a massive association with Celtic, I love it. But please don’t tell me this is some fantastic achievement. It’s not.”
