Everton handed injury blow to midfielder

Everton have potentially received an injury blow ahead of their game against Crystal Palace following the international break after Tom Davies had to return home early from the England Under-21 squad.

The 19 year old was named in Aidy Boothroyd’s England’s European Under 21 Championship against Ukraine last week, however he had to pull out and was replaced by Sam Field of West Brom.

The exact nature of the injury has not been confirmed, however Everton have said that it is minor.  Everton fans will certainly hope that the youngster’s injury is as minor as the Toffees claim that it is. Since breaking into the first team last season, he has been a revelation.

“We don’t want to risk anything, especially as he has played so many games and done so well for Everton this season,” said Boothroyd, who has also seen Josh Onomah, Dael Fry and Ben Chilwell pull out injured, in addition to losing the influential trio of Tammy Abraham, Joe Gomez and Ruben Loftus-Cheek to the senior ranks.
